Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital
Press Release
For Immediate Release: March 04, 2008
Portland, OR - On February 26, 2008, the John L. Scott Foundation hosted its First Annual Charity Poker Tournament to raise money for Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital. With registration fees and cash earned through raffle drawings and a silent auction, almost $9,000 was raised.
At Bridgeport Brew Pub in Northwest Portland, 40 players competed in a Texas Hold ‘Em–style tournament as they vied for the title and gold-plated championship bracelet. By the end of the night, Brian Porter, a broker in the John L. Scott Woodstock office, was the champion. His last competitor was none other than his principal broker, Ron Hackenberg. In fact, the competition at the final table was fierce. Brian had to outplay nine other powerhouses, including J. Lennox Scott, CEO of John L. Scott Real Estate.
Brian’s grand prize is a weekend stay at Collins Lake Resort, Government Camp; dinner for two at Charlie's Mountain View Inn; and two all-day ski lift tickets. He also won entry into next year's poker tournament.
All proceeds from the event will go to the John L. Scott Foundation, which benefits Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital. Sponsors for the Poker Tournament were: Hotel Lucia, NuMark, American Home Shield, John L. Scott Relocation, IKON, and Community Newspapers.
