John L. Scott Foundation Helps Raise $600,000 for Doernbecher’s
For Immediate Release: March 20, 2007
Portland, OR - On March 15 and 16, 2007, the John L. Scott Foundation sponsored “99.5 The Wolf’s Hunt for a Cure Radiothon,” helping to raise over $600,000 for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Over the past seven years, the Wolf’s Radiothon has raised more than $2.5 million.
Employees and sales associates from several John L. Scott Portland-area offices volunteered their time at the Radiothon phone bank, taking pledges from callers. The Radiothon was broadcast from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. from the Doernbecher lobby. Live interviews with patients and their families, physicians and nurses, as well as lively appeals from the Wolf’s popular on-air personalities, kept the phone-bank volunteers busy throughout the event. John L. Scott Principal Broker Debra Nolen was one of Doernbecher’s former patients who asked listeners to call in their donations.
The country music station’s listeners pledged a total of $608,075.99 to support research, medical care, pediatrics education, and outreach programs at Doernbecher, which provides primary and specialized care to more than 56,500 young patients each year from Oregon, Southwest Washington, and beyond.
